ICAAE Ltd is responsible for all aspects of assessment and certification.

ICAAE in association with Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) offer GCSE specifications in ICT, D&T, BS and BCS and Applied ICT and Applied Business.

ICAAE, as an awarding body, offer the nationally recognised qualification, ICAAE Certificate of Competence in ICT, which is at Level One of the National Qualifications Framework.

ICAAE has devised a flexible course which provides a route for all students to develop their ICT skills and which can be used to support the QCA schemes of work. The course is easily accessible and allows for individual and group work. It is less burdensome than a GCSE, and its format makes it suitable for all students at Key Stages 3 and 4 - particularly those for whom GCSE may be too difficult or not appropriate. Able pupils at Key Stage 2 may also follow the scheme, and adults too!

In December of 2005 ICAAE was granted QCA approval to pilot a series of Level One and Level Two vocational qualifications that use ICT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum. These qualifications can be delivered through single or cross-curricular materials.

Level 1 and Level 2 Qualifications:

  • Communication and Presentation
  • Handling Data and Information

Level 2 Qualifications only:

  • Systems and Control
  • Communications Technology

ICAAE have recently developed a Business Chinese qualification at VRQ Entry and Level 1 to fully support Chinese. This was developed in conjunction with the faculty of The University of Hong Kong and launched in June 2006. These specifications are vocational qualifications for non-native Chinese language students; it is aimed at people who will be working or interacting with Chinese clients, colleagues or businesses. The aim of the qualification is to enhance the competitiveness of companies by promoting the social inclusion of employees through the recognition and understanding of Chinese culture and language. These qualifications focus upon commercial opportunities as a motivating factor in learning Chinese.
