Jim's professional portfolio includes project based work for a number of organisations and publishers working in the education sector, including NCSL, BECTa, TDA. The main focus of his work is on professional development for best use of ICT in the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning, as well as leadership for future learning development. He was Regional Training Coordinator for Intel UK for two years, delivering bespoke ICT training to school staff, HEIs and ITT institutions.  Since then he has been Senior Training Consultant for ICAA (International Curriculum and Assessment Agency), a major NOF provider, for whom he also runs National College of School Leadership SLICT courses aimed at Headteachers and Senior Management Teams. He was also on the team invited to pilot the new Building Schools for the Future training for school leaders, also developed by NCSL. He recently designed and produced a training course for Teaching Assistants with development funding from the DfES Innovation Unit and ICT in Schools Division, now sold on license to LAs. Recently he led a three day conference for Guernsey leadership teams on transforming and personalising learning. He continues to offer consultancy services to Guernsey and Alderney schools.

He advises schools and subject departments on appropriate ICT training and development, as well as delivering freelance training for educational publishers, and producing content for publishers. He also lectures part time on the New Technologies of Learning module of the BA Educational Studies, University of Exeter.  He provides in-school support for PGCE trainee ICT teachers.
