Catherine worked for 35 years in Local Authority Social Work as a practitioner and a manager, specialising in Child Care, Adoption, Family Placement and Looked After Children.

She is a qualified and practicing counsellor/therapist for adults and children, offering expressive therapy to her clients and is a member of BACP. Catherine delivers training on communicating with children and young people to trainee and practicing social workers and counsellors and has trained Police Family Service Unit officers on communication skills with these client groups. She is a qualified and practicing supervisor.

One of Catherine's particular skills is working with Adopters in creating Life Story Books for children. She has written a chapter on working with children in Adoption from a Person Centred Perspective (book due for publication in 2007).
