Dr Sohail Husain is a highly experienced trainer, researcher and adviser in community safety and urban regeneration who has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Having been a Lecturer in Geography at Southampton University for 14 years, Sohail joined the Crime Concern Trust at its inception in 1989, built its consultancy and training division to a £5m social enterprise and was Deputy CEO from 2001. He left in 2005 to work independently and has since completed assignments in New Zealand, Canada, Greece, Serbia, Kosovo and Macedonia on behalf of national governments and international donors. In the UK, Sohail has an extensive record of influencing policy and legislation through involvement in expert groups of government and its agencies, as well as through his published research. He has considerable experience of working with Government Departments, the Youth Justice Board, Audit Commission, and National Audit Office. He is accredited as a Neighbourhood Renewal Adviser by the Department for Communities, a Governance Adviser to the Department for International Development and a Civilian Expert to the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Unit. Sohail is a Trustee of ENCAMS and a member of the Editorial Board of a leading community safety journal. |
